Going Forward to the Kingdom

Like General Grant, who refused to retreat even at great cost because retreat only prolonged the war and wasted previous gains, God’s people must never look back or retreat in the spiritual battle. Lot’s wife, the ten fearful spies, and those who longed for Egypt all illustrate the deadly danger of looking longingly at the world left behind rather than obeying God’s command to go forward. Believers are therefore urged to leave the past and its corruptions behind, trust God to fight their battles, and keep advancing toward the Kingdom no matter how difficult the path becomes.
