Defending Our Position: Hell

Traditional Christian teaching about an eternally burning hell of conscious torment largely stems from extra-biblical sources such as Dante’s Inferno rather than Scripture. The Bible teaches annihilationism—that the wicked are ultimately destroyed and cease to exist after judgment—rather than endless suffering. Believers are encouraged to defend this biblical position with gentleness and clarity, beginning from points of agreement and carefully showing from Scripture the order of the resurrections and the true fate of the unrepentant.
